The Argos also had two other runners in the top 20.Harding’s seven runners all finished in the top 10, led by individual medalist Katy Grant with a time of 18:40.  Hedstrom was not far behind, placing sixth with a time of 19:27 in the 5k race.  The Argonauts finished ahead of Arkansas Tech, ranked No. 3 in the South Region heading into the race.  West Florida was ranked No. 4 coming into the weekend.”I am extremely proud of this team,” said Head Coach John Bergen.  “They have accomplished more than expected because they have worked hard and they believe in themselves. “Bailee has had a strong second half of the season,” he continued, “and with her performance today, she now knows she can run with anyone in our conference and should be very successful in the NCAA regional meet coming up.”The next four UWF runners finished close together, led by sophomore Kelbe Beck (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln HS) at 20:19 (19th place).  Freshman Megan Steinocher (Lawrenceville, Ga./Mill Creek HS), freshman Karyssa Tourelle-Fallon (Navarre, Fla./Navarre HS), and sophomore Stacy Paton (Stuart, Fla./South Fork HS) were next, finishing 20th, 21st, and 23rd, respectively.Hedstrom’s top 10 finish earned her an All-GSC first team selection, while Beck and Steinocher (20:24) were named to the All-GSC second team for finishing in the top 20.  Tourelle-Fallon (20:26) and Paton (20:34) narrowly missed on second team selections, as they were just outside the top 20.”It was great to see our second through fifth runners all pull each other and finish strong as a pack,” said Bergen.  “Kelbe and Megan are gutsy tough runners and this course was challenging which fits perfectly for them.  It is very nice to see them earn second team all-conference.  This was a complete team effort, with our fourth and fifth place finishers right behind our second and third, that is the key to a good team score.  Stacy and Karyssa just missed all-conference selections, but their strong finishes were the most important factor in our second place team finish.”Sophomore Vanessa Ffrench (Milton, Fla./Boca Raton HS) finished in 42nd place, posting a time of 21:35, and she was followed by freshman Celenne Morfin (Winter Haven, Fla./Lake Region HS) in 48th place with a mark of 21:50.  Freshman Danielle Cureton (Cumming, Ga./Forsyth Central HS) was the final finisher for UWF, posting a time of 22:08 to finish 57th.The Argonauts will head to the NCAA South Regional on November 7 hosted by the University of Tampa, hoping to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships coming up on November 21 in Evansville, Ind.  For information on all UWF Athletics, visit www.GoArgos.com. #ARGOS#COMPLETE RESULTSPrint Friendly Versioncenter_img UWF Women Place Second at GSC Cross Country Championshipslast_img
