AUBURN — A goal-line fumble recovery kept Auburn near the top of the polls and in the College Football Playoff hunt for another week.After a thrilling 35-31 win at Ole Miss on Saturday night, Auburn moved to No. 3 in both the Associated Press poll the Amway Coaches poll.Auburn (7-1, 4-1 SEC) received 1,345 points in the AP poll, up from 1,267 last week, and moved ahead of Alabama, which saw its points drop from 1,290 to 1,281 during its off week.Mississippi State (8-0, 5-0) remained No. 1 after defeating Arkansas. The Bulldogs received 1,484 points, down from 1,486, and lost a first place vote (45) from last week.No. 2 Florida State (1,452) added a first place vote (15) from a week ago.No. 5 Oregon (1,275), TCU (1,148), Michigan State (1,120), Notre Dame (1,096), Kansas State (1,049) and Baylor (961) round out the top 10 in the AP poll.Auburn’s remaining road games – Georgia (Nov. 15) and Alabama (Nov. 29) – are against ranked teams and the Tigers have wins over three ranked teams – Kansas State, LSU and Ole Miss – thus far. The Rebels dropped from No. 7 to No. 12.Five teams from the SEC West – Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss and No. 14 LSU – are ranked in the AP poll and No. 17 Georgia is the only ranked SEC East team.Auburn received 1,355 points, up from last week’s 1,276 and leapfrogged Alabama (1,349) to be the top one-loss team in the coaches poll.Mississippi State (1,526 points) saw its lead over Florida State (1,508) grow slightly despite losing a first place vote down to 40 this week, in the coaches poll. The Seminoles gained the vote, receiving all 22 remaining first place votes.Oregon (1,289) moved ahead of Michigan State (1,241) to take over at No. 5 – the Ducks defeated the Spartans earlier this season. TCU (1,150), Notre Dame (1,121) and Kansas State (1,087) round out the top 10 in the coaches poll.
