Meals on Wheels/Friendship Meals (API) is in desperate need of volunteers to keep its senior meal program in operation.API has been serving the Wellington Community for over 40 years providing meals to seniors both in the home and at the Wellington Senior Center.  This program has been provided by the dedicated volunteers who help in the kitchen and deliver the home bound meals.API is in a crisis and the organization desperately needs volunteers to help daily at the center and with the home delivery.  Without volunteers this program cannot operate, the funds to pay people simply do not exist.  API has been on the same budget since October 2009 and does not have the money to hire new staff to take the place of our volunteer staff. Currently API is serving 55-60 home bound and 30-40 congregate participants daily.  Without new volunteers to step up and help our meal program API may have to stop serving meals on Monday and Tuesday, meaning that 200 meals each week will not be provided to our seniors. Please say you will help.  Call Cindy at 620-326-3942 to volunteer.  All ages are welcome.3—Follow us on Facebook.Follow us on Twitter.last_img
