The insurance firm already has recovered about $400,000 but is owed $29,416 in interest. Authorities said Ruth Ekong smashed antiques and other property in June 2000 after finding out that her husband had an affair. Ekong had pleaded guilty in July to grand theft and insurance fraud. A Los Angeles Superior Court judge placed her on five years’ probation and ordered her to perform 240 hours of community service. She also was sentenced to 90 days in jail, for which she received credit for time already served. center_img Dr. Enobong Ekong, 64, was sentenced in August 2003 to 18 months’ probation, told to perform 100 hours of community service and ordered to pay nearly $28,000 in restitution to the insurance company.
